Private, Custom Walking Tours in Florence, Italy |
|---|
| Hi, I'm Zachary, an
American college professor and jewelry
artist who lives
fulltime in Florence and I offer custom,
private walking tours. I'm not a company and I don't do any kind of
group
tours. I've spent years living in the historic center and
researching every aspect of Florence, its history, and its culture and
I can promise you a journey of discovery unlike any other walking tour
available. My regular "Grand Tour" presents a broad picture of Florence from its origins as Roman outpost, through the medieval rise to glory and the golden age of the Renaissance, to its brief tenure as the Italian capital and the multicultural crossroads of today. We'll see the famous landmarks, foundations of the ancient Roman walls, medieval tower houses (including the actual house of Dante, which is not the "Casa di Dante" Museum!) and some of the great secret details that make Florence so wonderful. Thousands of years of art, history, and culture literally line the streets and I'll bring it all together for you to understand better than any standard tour could ever hope to! We can also focus on any aspect of the city that you'd like to: the life and times of Dante, sites named in the Divine Comedy, the works of Brunelleschi or Di Cambio (or even Michelazzi or Gamberini by bicycle!) or whatever else interests you. And because there's no group we can even decide what to see along the way, veer down an interesting side street, or stop into a shop that catches your eye. As a special bonus I'll also prepare a map for you with whatever you're interested in marked out: the best places for shopping, restaurants, wine, nightclubs, art galleries, you name it!
